About The Position

Advanced Motion Controls is seeking a PCB Design Engineer to serve as a primary resource for printed circuit board design and layout within its product development team. The engineer will own PCB layout activities for new and existing products and support schematic capture, circuit documentation, component selection, and design updates. The role contributes to the development of servo amplifiers integrating power electronics, microprocessors, high-speed communications, and mixed-signal circuitry in compact packages. Candidates with a range of experience levels are welcome if they have strong PCB design fundamentals, attention to detail, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to grow into broader electrical design responsibilities. The engineer will work collaboratively with electronics, embedded software, mechanical, manufacturing, test, compliance, quality, and other teams. The position is full-time at the company's Camarillo, California facility, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with additional hours or days as required. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents because the company is ITAR registered.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional PCB design and layout experience, or an equivalent combination of education, hands-on project experience, and demonstrated capability.
  • Experience designing multilayer printed circuit boards containing high-speed digital, analog, mixed-signal, processor, FPGA, DSP, or microcontroller-based circuitry.
  • Ability to read, create, and modify electrical schematics and understand component functions, interfaces, and design constraints.
  • Working knowledge of PCB fabrication, assembly, design-for-manufacturability, and design-for-test practices.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
  • A U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, as required by the company's ITAR registration.
  • Occasional or frequent standing, walking, sitting, use of both hands, and carrying, lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
  • An associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent combination of education and relevant PCB design experience may also be considered.
  • Experience with power-electronics designs operating at voltages up to 800 V and currents up to 500 A in industrial, automotive, aerospace, or defense applications.
  • Experience designing analog and digital mixed-signal circuitry in highly integrated assemblies.
  • Understanding of component behavior, parasitic elements, signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, thermal management, and interactions among circuit functions.
  • Knowledge of PCB design practices used to reduce EMI and achieve EMC compliance across control and power circuitry.
  • Experience with Siemens PADS Standard Plus or PADS Professional, or demonstrated ability and willingness to learn these tools.
  • Experience collaborating with mechanical, test, compliance, quality, manufacturing, and supply-chain teams during new-product introduction and sustaining engineering.
  • Knowledge of PCB fabrication and assembly processes, materials, tolerances, equipment, and supplier documentation.
  • Experience supporting schematic design, component selection, circuit review, prototype bring-up, or troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with applicable safety, creepage and clearance, and regulatory requirements for industrial electronic products.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to PCB design and layout for new product development, product updates, and sustaining-engineering projects, collaborating with other PCB design resources.
  • Create and maintain schematics, PCB layouts, manufacturing drawings, artwork, and fabrication and assembly data for multilayer printed circuit boards.
  • Translate electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, signal-integrity, power-integrity, safety, and EMC requirements into practical PCB designs.
  • Collaborate with electrical, embedded software, mechanical, manufacturing, test, compliance, and quality engineers to develop reliable, manufacturable PCB assemblies.
  • Support circuit documentation, component selection, design changes, prototype builds, design reviews, and troubleshooting.
  • Create, maintain, and validate company CAD libraries, including schematic symbols, PCB footprints, component data, and design templates.
  • Maintain controlled PCB and schematic design files for active products, design configurations, and product variants.
  • Review designs for manufacturability, assembly, testability, component placement, thermal performance, creepage and clearance, and applicable design standards.
  • Coordinate design releases and revisions with internal stakeholders and external PCB fabrication and assembly suppliers.
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned.
