About The Position

Guardian is seeking a motivated individual to join their team as a Payroll Tax Specialist. This role is responsible for supporting payroll tax depositing, reporting, and compliance activities, as well as providing support for 1099 depositing and reporting obligations. The position requires strong payroll tax experience, knowledge of Workday, and the ability to collaborate across payroll, tax, and related functions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on payroll and payroll tax experience, a strong attention to detail, and the flexibility to support audits, tax notices, and other compliance-related activities as business needs arise.

Requirements

  • 6 to 10 years of payroll experience, with demonstrated knowledge of payroll processes and related compliance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Workday (WD) is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Willingness and ability to assume responsibility for 1099 depositing and reporting in addition to payroll responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • CPP Certification preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of ADP payroll depositing and reporting processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support payroll tax depositing, reporting, reconciliation, and related compliance activities.
  • Utilize Workday (WD) as part of payroll and related processes.
  • Support payroll tax depositing and reporting processes involving ADP.
  • Assist with 1099 depositing and reporting in addition to payroll-related responsibilities.
  • Assist with payroll and tax-related audits, including gathering information, researching issues, and supporting responses to audit inquiries.
  • Assist with tax agency and other payroll-related notices, including researching and helping prepare timely responses and supporting documentation.
  • Use Microsoft 365 applications to prepare analyses, maintain documentation, communicate with stakeholders, and support day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Work collaboratively with Payroll, Tax, Finance, HR, and other teams as appropriate to address payroll tax and reporting matters.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to support payroll tax compliance, reporting, audits, and inquiries.
  • Provide additional support for payroll tax and related compliance activities as needed.
