About The Position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting payroll operations, employee timekeeping, and payroll related employee support across multiple mill locations. This role serves as the primary point of contact for payroll, benefits, and eTime questions while ensuring accurate payroll data, reporting, timely approvals, and compliance with company policies and union agreements.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of eTime or similar timekeeping system experience required.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 to 4 years of payroll experience preferred.
  • Understanding of union environments and Collective Bargaining Agreements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for employee payroll, benefits, and timekeeping questions.
  • Maintain and audit eTime records including missed punches, coding corrections, and approvals.
  • Support payroll processing by reviewing hours, pay rates, deductions, and employee changes for accuracy.
  • Enter and maintain employee data including new hires, transfers, promotions, pay changes, and terminations.
  • Partner with supervisors, HR, and mill leadership to ensure payroll deadlines and approvals are completed on time.
  • Coordinate leave of absence updates with employees, HR, and third-party vendors.
  • Process union dues and support compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA).
  • Assist with payroll reporting, audits, and process improvements.
