About The Position

Aston Carter is recruiting a Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing for commercial construction projects. The position handles multi-state, union, and multiple-organization payroll in a semi-complex environment, including union payroll, garnishments, deductions, payroll tax, certified payroll, and prevailing wage requirements. The role also assists with quarter-end and year-end payroll processes and collaborates with IT to improve the payroll system backend. The role is based in Farmingdale, New York, in a corporate shared services environment. It begins with daily in-office work and transitions to a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days working from home. The position reports to the Payroll Director and is part of a department of nine other people. The described team has around 50 employees and is characterized as friendly and laid-back. This is a contract-to-hire position. The pay range is $28.00–$32.00 per hour. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits, and availability may depend on job classification and length of employment.

Requirements

At least 1 year of payroll experience in a semi-complex environment.
At least 1 year of union experience.
Proficiency with computers and technology related to payroll.
Experience with payroll tax, certified payroll, and prevailing wages.

Nice To Haves

Experience with SAP and ADP WorkforceNow.
Familiarity with tax remittances.
