About The Position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring employees are paid correctly and in compliance with all applicable laws and company policies. This role performs day-to-day payroll transactions, maintains payroll records, and assists with tax filings, reconciliations, and reporting. The Payroll Specialist partners closely with Human Resources and Finance to ensure alignment on employee data, compensation changes, and regulatory requirements while delivering a high level of service to employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2–4+ years of payroll processing experience
  • Basic knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage and hour requirements
  • Experience with payroll or HRIS systems such as ADP, Workday, UKG, or similar
  • Experience supporting payroll audits, reconciliations, or reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Analytical skills to identify discrepancies and resolve payroll issues
  • Effective communication skills to interact with employees and internal teams
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to escalate issues appropriately
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Basic understanding of payroll systems and data entry accuracy requirements
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and improve payroll processes and systems

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll transactions accurately and on time
  • Review and validate employee timekeeping records, earnings, deductions, and adjustments
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, and benefits deductions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and company policies
  • Assist with payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end activities, including W-2 preparation
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Support payroll audits by providing accurate documentation and reports
  • Reconcile payroll reports and identify discrepancies for correction
  • Partner with HR and Finance to ensure accurate data flow between systems
  • Assist with maintaining payroll procedures and identifying opportunities for process improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
