About The Position

This role is responsible for various payroll functions, including running specific contracts, updating and reviewing payroll spreadsheets, and processing different types of forms and employment statuses. The position also involves providing backup support for other payroll-related tasks, assisting employees with payroll inquiries, and coordinating with HR specialists for leave adjustments and processing. A key responsibility includes researching and analyzing technical and payroll-related timesheet issues, auditing timesheets, and communicating follow-up reports to employees and supervisors. The role also serves as support for future project implementations and performs other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years of payroll experience.
  • Two years of experience must have included knowledge of state and federal payroll regulations.
  • Two years of experience must have included the use of tax tables to determine deductions.
  • Thorough knowledge of complex and specialized payroll rules.
  • Ability to run and troubleshoot processes.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Running FACS and Additional Compensation contracts.
  • Updating and reviewing all payroll spreadsheets.
  • Processing flat rate forms and secondary employment.
  • Providing backup for Graduate Assistant and student employee entry.
  • Processing employment verifications, student employee terminations, student pay rate changes, and Federal work study recertifications.
  • Assisting employees at the payroll counter with questions.
  • Coordinating with HR Leave Benefits Specialist to receive and process leave adjustments.
  • Receiving leave balance information for terminated and retired regular faculty and staff.
  • Running regular and contingent leave processes on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Researching and analyzing technical and payroll-related timesheet questions and concerns.
  • Coordinating with payroll processors to review and audit payroll timesheet questions.
  • Coordinating with OHR for any leave-related timesheet questions.
  • Sending follow-up reports after each payroll to employees and supervisors regarding outstanding payroll technical timesheets or questions and/or concerns.
  • Serving as support for any future project implementations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
