About The Position

Paper Trails is a Maine-based payroll, HR, and human capital management firm serving small and mid-sized businesses across New England. We're looking for an experienced Payroll Implementation & Transformation Consultant to lead new client onboardings from kickoff through their first few payrolls - and to keep making existing clients' systems smarter, faster, and more automated. This position is fully remote, but we prefer candidates in the Eastern Time Zone to best align with client expectations.

Requirements

• 2+ years working in the isolved suite, in a client service or project management environment
• Background in accounting, business, or HR
• Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivots, CSV cleanup)
• Sharp analytical and time-management skills, comfortable juggling several large projects at once
• Confident communicator with business owners by phone, email, and in person

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with scripting concepts or AI tools
• FPC or CPP certification
• Degree in accounting, business, or HR

Responsibilities

• Lead new client onboardings from kickoff through their first few payrolls.
• Make existing clients' systems smarter, faster, and more automated.
• Act as the single point of contact for multiple concurrent client implementations, owning the full cycle: needs assessment, data collection, isolved configuration, testing, training, and first payrolls.
• Act as subject-matter expert on advanced configurations - building integrations with benefit carriers, 401(k) providers, and GL systems.
• Troubleshoot tax and compliance setups.
• Design process improvements that cut manual work and improve data accuracy.
• Mentor newer team members.
• Occasionally meet clients face-to-face.
