The Payroll & Benefits Generalist plays a key role in supporting core HR functions, including payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR operations. This position ensures accuracy and compliance while managing employee benefits and leave programs and adhering to employment laws and company policies. As a trusted resource to employees and leaders, this role helps deliver a positive employee experience and supports overall organizational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience with deep expertise in payroll, benefits, compliance, and HR operations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, wage and hour regulations, and payroll/benefits best practices.
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll, including reconciliations, reporting, and audits.
  • Advanced proficiency with HRIS, payroll, and benefits systems, including reporting and process optimization.
  • High attention to detail with sound judgment and discretion handling sensitive information.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication with an employee-focused approach, able to partner across multiple business units.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR, FPC/CPP) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Serve as the primary payroll expert, managing reconciliations, reporting, audits, and issue resolution.
  • Partner with Finance and vendors to optimize payroll systems, processes, and controls.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and vendor coordination.
  • Lead open enrollment and serve as a resource for employee benefits and leave-related inquiries (e.g., FMLA).
  • Conduct benefits audits and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain compliant employee documentation and support regulatory requests.
  • Own HR systems and data integrity, including HRIS administration, reporting, and process optimization.
  • Support the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee changes, and off-boarding.
  • Drive process improvements, employee engagement initiatives, and cross-functional HR projects.
  • Perform other payroll, benefits, compliance, and HR-related duties as needed to support the organization.
