About The Position

DHT Group is seeking a highly organized, detail-driven Payroll Administrator for their Reese, Michigan location. This full-time role is crucial for ensuring accuracy, accountability, compliance, and trust in the payroll process within a fast-moving transportation and logistics environment. The ideal candidate must be able to manage sensitive information with professionalism, remain calm under pressure, and process payroll accurately on a weekly basis. This position is not remote and requires daily commuting to the main office.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of payroll experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of professionalism and discretion
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer systems
  • Ability to learn HRIS and payroll software quickly
  • Working knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance requirements
  • 2+ years working experience in Payroll with working knowledge of Quickbooks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications
  • Knowledge of pertinent federal and state employment regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Payroll experience in trucking, transportation, logistics, or heavy haul industries
  • Experience with payroll systems such as Paylocity
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Process and maintain accurate payroll transactions across multiple divisions and companies
  • Prepare and maintain payroll records, employee files, and documentation
  • Ensure confidentiality and integrity of payroll information
  • Process deductions, garnishments, taxes, benefits, and payroll adjustments
  • Assist employees with payroll and timekeeping questions
  • Identify and correct payroll processing issues
  • Prepare weekly payroll reporting and invoicing
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Support HR and administrative functions as needed
