About The Position
The Pay Station Clerk supports customers using the store’s dining and checkout services. The role operates the register, assists customers with orders, and helps keep work and dining areas clean and adequately stocked. It is a fast-paced, customer-facing position in a retail store and dining environment, with training provided.
Requirements
- Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables.
- Perform arithmetic involving fractions, decimals, and percentages and make change accurately.
- Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
- Communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
- Work effectively as part of a team.
- No education or experience is required; training is provided.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service and make customer interactions positive.
- Operate the cash register accurately and process cash, checks, credit cards, in-store charges, coupons, and discounts.
- Count back change, issue receipts, and bag or box merchandise.
- Keep silverware, condiments, beverage cups, and coffee-service supplies stocked.
- Assist with bussing tables in the Hickory House or Market Grille dining areas and run orders from food stations as needed.
- Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
- Answer telephone calls promptly and provide helpful service.
- Work with co-workers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
- Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
- Report to work as scheduled and on time.
