About The Position

Pay Station Clerks help keep the dining and checkout experience running smoothly for customers. The role operates a register, assists customers with orders, and helps maintain a clean and well-stocked environment. It is suited to someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in doing things correctly, and can thrive in a fast-paced setting. No education or prior experience is required; training is provided.

Requirements

Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages, and make change accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
Communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a positive customer experience.
Complete a pre-employment drug screen successfully.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and make customer interactions positive.
Operate the cash register accurately and process cash, checks, credit card transactions, in-store charges, coupons, and discounts.
Count back change, issue receipts, and bag or box merchandise for customers.
Keep silverware, condiments, and beverage cups adequately supplied for customer use.
Refill and maintain the coffee service area, including cups, utensils, and condiments.
Bus tables in the Hickory House or Market Grille sit-down areas and run orders to the dining area from food stations as needed.
Follow proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized throughout the shift.
Answer telephone calls promptly and provide helpful customer service.
Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
