About The Position

Pay Station Clerks help keep the dining and checkout experience running smoothly for Hy-Vee customers. The role involves operating a register, assisting customers with orders, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked environment. It is a fast-paced position in a retail store and dining setting, with employees on their feet throughout the shift. Training is provided; no education or experience is required. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Perform arithmetic involving fractions, decimals, and percentages, and make change accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
Communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team.
No education or experience requirements; training is provided.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and make customer interactions positive.
Operate the cash register accurately and process cash, checks, credit card transactions, in-store charges, coupons, and discounts.
Count back change, issue receipts, and bag or box merchandise for customers.
Ensure supplies of silverware, condiments, and beverage cups are adequate.
Refill and maintain the coffee service area, including cups, utensils, and condiments.
Bus tables in the Hickory House or Market Grille dining areas and run orders to the dining area from food stations as needed.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful service to callers.
Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
Maintain personal hygiene and dress standards and comply with Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
