About The Position

Hy-Vee is seeking a customer-focused Pay Station Clerk to help keep the dining and checkout experience running smoothly. The clerk operates the register, assists customers, and helps maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked environment. The role is fast-paced and involves working with customers and coworkers in a retail store and dining setting. Training is provided; no education or prior experience is required. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Perform arithmetic involving fractions, decimals, and percentages and make change accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
Communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a positive customer experience.
Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and make customer interactions positive.
Operate the cash register, scan products, and process cash, checks, credit card transactions, in-store charges, coupons, and discounts accurately.
Count back change, issue receipts, and bag or box merchandise for customers.
Ensure silverware, condiments, and beverage cups are adequately stocked for customer use.
Refill and maintain the coffee service area, including cups, utensils, and condiments.
Bus tables in the Hickory House or Market Grille sit-down areas and run orders to the dining area from food stations as needed.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful customer service.
Work collaboratively with coworkers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and complete special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
