About The Position

Pay Station Clerks help keep the dining and checkout experience running smoothly for customers. The role involves operating the register, assisting customers with orders, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked environment in a fast-paced retail store and dining setting. Hy-Vee provides training; no education or prior experience is required. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

• Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
• Perform arithmetic involving fractions, decimals, and percentages, and make change accurately.
• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
• Communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Work effectively as part of a team.
• No education or experience requirements; training is provided.
• Complete a pre-employment drug screen successfully.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and make customer interactions positive.
• Operate the cash register, scan products, and process cash, checks, credit card transactions, in-store charges, coupons, and discounts accurately.
• Count back change, issue receipts, and bag or box merchandise for customers.
• Ensure silverware, condiments, and beverage cups are adequately stocked for customer use.
• Refill and maintain the coffee service area, including cups, utensils, and condiments.
• Bus tables in the Hickory House or Market Grille sit-down areas and run orders from food stations to the dining area as needed.
• Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Answer telephone calls promptly and provide helpful service to customers.
• Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Assist in other store areas and complete special projects as assigned.
• Maintain personal hygiene and dress standards and comply with Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
