About The Position
The Pay Station Clerk supports a smooth dining and checkout experience in Hy-Vee’s store. The role involves operating a register, assisting customers with orders, and keeping customer areas clean and well stocked. It is suited to someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in accuracy, and can thrive in a fast-paced setting. Training is provided, and no education or experience is required.
Requirements

- Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
- Ability to perform arithmetic involving fractions, decimals, and percentages and make change accurately.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
- Ability to communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
- Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greet customers, learn their names, and make each interaction positive.
- Operate the cash register accurately and process cash, checks, credit card transactions, in-store charges, coupons, and discounts.
- Count back change, issue receipts, and bag or box merchandise for customers.
- Keep silverware, condiments, and beverage cups adequately stocked.
- Refill and maintain the coffee service area, including cups, utensils, and condiments.
- Help bus tables in the Hickory House or Market Grille dining areas and run orders from food stations to the dining area as needed.
- Follow proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
- Answer telephone calls promptly and provide helpful customer service.
- Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Assist in other store areas and complete special projects as assigned.
- Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
- Report to work as scheduled and on time.
