About The Position

The Pay Station Clerk supports customer dining and checkout experiences in a retail store and dining environment. The role operates a cash register, assists customers with orders and payments, and helps keep dining and service areas clean, organized, and adequately supplied. The position is fast-paced and involves frequent standing and walking throughout the shift. Training is provided, and no education or experience is required. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Ability to perform arithmetic involving fractions, decimals, and percentages and make change accurately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
Ability to communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning or sanitation duties.
Where applicable, safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation.
Where applicable, work around heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment.
Where applicable, operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and make customer interactions positive.
Operate the cash register accurately and process cash, checks, credit card transactions, in-store charges, coupons, and discounts.
Count back change, issue receipts, and bag or box merchandise.
Ensure adequate supplies of silverware, condiments, and beverage cups are available for customers.
Refill and maintain the coffee service area, including cups, utensils, and condiments.
Bus tables in the Hickory House or Market Grille sit-down areas and run orders to the dining area from food stations as needed.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful service to callers.
Work as part of a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
