About The Position

The Pay Station Clerk supports customers’ dining and checkout experiences by operating the register, assisting with orders, and helping maintain a clean, well-stocked environment. The role involves working in a fast-paced retail and dining setting and providing friendly customer service. Training is provided; no education or experience is required. Night and weekend shifts are required. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Ability to perform arithmetic involving fractions, decimals, and percentages and make change accurately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
Ability to communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, point-of-sale transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
Night and weekend availability is required.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and provide prompt, friendly service.
Operate the cash register accurately and process cash, checks, credit cards, in-store charges, coupons, and discounts.
Count back change, issue receipts, and bag or box merchandise.
Ensure silverware, condiments, and beverage cups are adequately supplied.
Refill and maintain the coffee service area, including cups, utensils, and condiments.
Bus tables in the Hickory House or Market Grille dining areas and run orders from food stations to the dining area as needed.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Answer telephone calls promptly and provide helpful customer service.
Work with co-workers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and complete special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
