About The Position
The Pay Station Clerk supports customers’ dining and checkout experience in a Hy-Vee store. The role operates the register, assists customers with orders, and helps maintain a clean, well-stocked environment. It is a fast-paced customer-service position involving teamwork and work in retail and dining areas. No education or prior experience is required; training is provided.
Requirements

- Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages and make change accurately.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
- Ability to communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
- Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service and make customer interactions positive.
- Operate the cash register, scan products, and process cash, checks, credit card transactions, in-store charges, coupons, and discounts accurately.
- Count back change, issue receipts, and bag or box merchandise.
- Keep silverware, condiments, beverage cups, and coffee service supplies stocked.
- Assist with bussing tables in the Hickory House or Market Grille dining areas and run orders from food stations as needed.
- Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
- Answer telephone calls promptly and assist callers.
- Work with co-workers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
- Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
- Report to work as scheduled and on time.
