Pay Station Clerk
About The Position
The Pay Station Clerk helps keep the dining and checkout experience running smoothly for customers. The role operates the register, assists customers with orders, and helps maintain a clean and well-stocked environment in a fast-paced retail store and dining setting. The position requires working night and weekend shifts and being on your feet throughout the shift. Training is provided; no education or experience requirements are listed. The anticipated hourly starting wage is $13.00 to $16.25, depending on experience. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.
Requirements
- Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables.
- Perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages, and make change accurately.
- Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
- Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a great customer experience.
- No education or experience requirements; training is provided.
- Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas.
- Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers, learning their names, and making interactions positive.
- Operate the cash register accurately and process cash, checks, credit card transactions, in-store charges, coupons, and discounts.
- Count back change, issue receipts, and bag or box merchandise for customers.
- Ensure silverware, condiments, and beverage cups are adequately stocked for customers.
- Refill and maintain the coffee service area, including cups, utensils, and condiments.
- Help bus tables in the Hickory House or Market Grille sit-down areas and run orders from food stations to the dining area as needed.
- Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
- Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful customer service.
- Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
- Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
- Report to work as scheduled and on time.
