Patient Transporter - FT (3:00pm-11:00pm) NMC
About The Position
Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center is seeking a full-time Patient Transporter. The required schedule is 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., including rotating weekends. The starting rate is $18.50 per hour. The Patient Transporter follows written or verbal instructions to confirm patient and trip details, escorts patients to designated areas, assists with walking or wheelchair transport, and transports patients within the facility using beds, wheeled carts, or wheelchairs. The role also involves carrying luggage and delivering messages, mail, medical records, and other items. Other related duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED/equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to work well under time constraints.
- Ability to stand for long periods and to bend, lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; the role may involve exposure to extreme cold and extreme heat.
Nice To Haves
- CPR certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Ascertain the patient's name, destination, mode of travel, time, and other information according to written or verbal instructions.
- Guide or escort incoming patients from the admitting office or reception desk to a designated area.
- Carry patients' luggage.
- Assist patients with walking to help prevent falls, or transport non-ambulatory patients using a wheelchair.
- Transport patients, alone or with assistance, in a bed, wheeled cart, or wheelchair to designated areas within the facility during their stay.
- Deliver messages, mail, medical records, and other items.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
