Patient Transport Associate - PT Evening - Jefferson Lansdale
About The Position
The Patient Transport Associate transports patients to inpatient beds and to other areas of the hospital, including surgery, therapy, and radiology, safely and promptly. The role involves lifting and moving patients, selecting appropriate transport equipment, monitoring patients during transport, and responding to changes in their condition. The associate maintains and decontaminates equipment after each transport in accordance with policy and follows infection-control and personal protective equipment requirements to reduce exposure to infectious body fluids, disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances. The position also requires interactions with coworkers, visitors, and staff consistent with the hospital’s core values.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely and promptly to inpatient beds and other hospital areas, including surgery, therapy, and radiology.
- Lift and move patients and use appropriate equipment to reach the destination.
- Monitor patients during transport and respond to changes in their condition.
- Maintain and clean transport equipment, and decontaminate it after each transport in accordance with policy.
- Follow PPE requirements and infection-control policies, including hand hygiene and equipment decontamination.
- Interact with coworkers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the hospital’s core values.
