Patient Services Representative Endoscopy Scheduler
About The Position
As a Patient Services Representative with Corewell Health, you will work as part of a team to provide patient registration, concierge, and clerical services. The role supports patients and care teams through complex problem solving, appointment and procedure scheduling, insurance authorization and verification, and electronic medical record administration. You may also help train new team members and perform the duties of a Patient Services Representative, Associate when needed. This is a full-time, day-shift position with 40 scheduled hours per week. The hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at Corewell Health’s 4100 Lake Drive site in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The position is in the Gastroenterology HOPD - Grand Rapids Prof Svcs department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of relevant experience in insurance billing, access management, patient financial services, electronic health records, lab service support, or another related field.
Responsibilities
- Resolve complex patient and customer issues, using sound judgment when registering patients in treatment rooms.
- Perform administrative tasks, including patient check-out and scheduling appointments, referrals, in-office procedures, surgeries, and tests.
- Review medical records for incoming referrals, maintain and modify provider templates, and navigate external patient referral portals.
- Reconcile multidepartment deposits.
- Obtain insurance authorizations or verify prior authorization, and assist with retroactive insurance denials and appeals.
- Perform complex EMR/EHR scanning and use RightFax to fax and upload documents to EPIC.
- Assist with training new team members using standard work.
- Perform Patient Services Representative, Associate duties when needed.
- Participate in safety initiatives and risk-mitigation measures, and complete position- and unit-related safety competencies and requirements on time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
