About The Position

As a Patient Services Representative with Corewell Health, you will provide registration, concierge, and clerical services as part of a team, helping deliver healthcare service to patients. The role includes complex patient and customer problem-solving, administrative work, authorization and insurance support, and management of electronic health records and documents. You will also help train new team members and support safety initiatives. This is a full-time, day-shift position in OBGYN, scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with 36 scheduled hours per week and no weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in insurance billing, access management, patient financial services, electronic health records, lab service support, or another related field.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex patient and customer problems, including using high-level discernment when registering patients in treatment rooms.
• Assist with patient check-out.
• Schedule patient appointments, incoming and outgoing referrals, in-office procedures, surgeries, and tests, including reviewing medical records for incoming referrals.
• Maintain and modify provider templates.
• Navigate external patient referral portals.
• Reconcile multidepartment deposits.
• Obtain insurance authorizations or verify that prior authorization has been obtained.
• Assist with retroactive insurance denials and appeals.
• Perform complex EMR/EHR scanning and use RightFax to fax and upload documents to EPIC.
• Assist with training new team members using standard work.
• Perform the role of Patient Services Representative, Associate when necessary.
• Participate in safety initiatives and risk-mitigating measures, and complete position- and unit-related safety competencies and requirements on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
