About The Position

The Patient Service Specialist is responsible for accurately completing EPIC registration for each patient, verifying and updating patient demographics, screening for insurance eligibility, and scanning insurance cards. This role also involves offering the SPN Sliding Fee application for self-pay patients and ensuring necessary consents are signed. The specialist will perform patient reminder calls, handle live calls for appointment reminders to decrease unused slots, and assist patients with scheduling, rescheduling, and other inquiries via phone. Additionally, the role includes scheduling appointments for walk-ins, generating no-show letters, and collecting copays and coinsurance. The position requires completing standard work for daily deposit and reconciliation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency (GED)
  • Previous Medical Office experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems independently.
  • Excellent in verbal and communication skills.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in healthcare administration or equivalent college coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately completes EPIC registration for each patient to include: Verifies and updates complete patient demographics.
  • Screens for insurance eligibility and scans correct insurance cards.
  • If Self-Pay, offers SPN Sliding Fee application and makes sure acknowledgement is signed.
  • Ensures E-sign Consent for treatment and insurance authorization is completed if due.
  • Follow Standard work for Patient Appointment arrival.
  • Performs Patient reminder calls.
  • Daily reviews requests to cancel or reschedule appointments.
  • Handles live calls as assigned for appointment reminders with a goal of decreasing unused appointment slots daily.
  • Greets patient/ answer phones in a kind, courteous tone.
  • Assists patient with scheduling, rescheduling appointments.
  • Creates inbox messages as needed to assist patients including refill requests for medication.
  • Demonstrates competence in identifying RED words.
  • Appointment Scheduling for Walk Ins.
  • Generates no show letters through EPIC.
  • Collects copays and coinsurance as applicable at Check out or Check in.
  • Completes standard work for daily deposit and reconciliation.
