About The Position

St. John's Riverside Hospital is seeking a Patient Service Representative for its medical practices. The role supports a smooth patient visit and accurate billing by providing professional front-office service, handling patient registration and insurance information, managing calls and appointments, and completing related administrative tasks. The position requires travel throughout Westchester County for business purposes using a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Requirements

• High school graduation or equivalency required.
• Knowledge of medical health insurance.
• Basic medical terminology and computer knowledge.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Experience with a high-volume call center.
• At least 2 years of registration experience in a medical setting, such as a doctor's office or hospital.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel, and medical database experience.
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for business travel throughout Westchester County.
• Ability to work with a sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

• Greet incoming patients in a friendly and professional manner.
• Instruct patients on completing paperwork and obtain complete, accurate information for billing and demographic purposes.
• Update patient demographic and insurance information as needed.
• Answer incoming calls in a friendly, professional manner before the third ring; provide accurate, customer-oriented information and route calls to the intended recipient promptly and accurately.
• Complete administrative duties that support a smooth patient visit and accurate billing, and keep the front office organized and clutter-free.
• Collect co-pays at the time of the visit in accordance with patient insurance guidelines.
• Verify eligibility for every visit and obtain referrals for patients as requested.
• Process authorization paperwork for tests requiring authorization and send it to the appropriate designee.
• Confirm appointments for the following day and create charts for first-time visitors or locate charts for returning patients.
