About The Position

INTEGRIS Health is seeking a Patient Safety Monitor for a day-shift, full-time role at INTEGRIS Health Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The position provides direct observation of patients considered at risk of harming themselves and supports patient safety across all units. The monitor works with patients and families and alerts nursing or other staff to unsafe behaviors or verbal expressions of such behaviors. The role includes extended periods of sitting and may involve varied physical demands or respiratory fit-test requirements. The work environment may include noise, disagreeable odors, exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, and chemicals, as well as contact with adolescents and adults who may have physical or behavioral outbursts related to a mental health condition. Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English and see and hear.
Must take call for a minimum of one shift (12 hours) per week.
Must successfully complete sitter orientation within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Provide direct observation of patients considered to be, or to have been, a danger to themselves and recognize dangerous situations.
Assist with patient safety issues, including adherence to fall protocols, use of restraints, and behavior that is dangerous to the patient's condition.
Notify the nurse and/or staff when dangerous behaviors or verbal expressions of such behaviors occur.
Interact appropriately with patients and/or their families.
Float to all units and follow standard precautions.
Take call for at least one 12-hour shift per week.
