About The Position

The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) participates in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients. In collaboration with the patient care team, the PSA helps ensure the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes the risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. The PSA may also assist with basic activities of daily living.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) license or certification is required.
• Obtain Nonviolent Crisis Intervention within 90 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous focus while observing patients to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Identify risks such as falls or self-harm and promptly alert the care team so they can intervene.
• Accurately and clearly document patient activity and changes throughout the shift.
• Safeguard confidential information and honor patient privacy.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to foster compassion, respect, and teamwork.
• Assist with basic activities of daily living as needed.
