About The Position

The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) provides support for a safe environment for patients who may be mentally or emotionally incapacitated, confused, or at risk of injuring themselves or others. The PSA observes patient activities under the direction of the registered nurse managing the patient’s plan of care. This casual/per-diem, part-time role floats among Mount Carmel Dublin, Mount Carmel East, Mount Carmel Grove City, Mount Carmel New Albany, and Mount Carmel St. Ann’s. Day and night shifts are available: day shift is listed as 7:00 am–7:30 am, and night shift is 7:00 pm–7:30 am. Weekend and holiday rotation is required.

Requirements

High school graduate preferred.
Previous patient care experience is helpful but not necessary.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.

Responsibilities

Accompany patients to different departments.
Assist with patients’ personal needs, including feeding, positioning, toileting, and ambulation as appropriate.
Maintain a clean, neat environment for the patient.
Collaborate with other health care workers regarding the patient’s plan of care and treatment.
Observe patient activities under the direction of the registered nurse managing the patient’s plan of care.
