About The Position
Sun River Health is seeking a full-time Patient Representative/Front Desk Receptionist for its Washington St. site in Poughkeepsie, New York. The position provides patient-centered care and facilitates patient access to services in a pleasant, knowledgeable, and efficient manner. The Patient Representative communicates with a diverse population using well-developed interpersonal skills and is responsible for all aspects of patient registration and appointment processes. This staff member serves as an access point for patients to receive care and performs duties in compliance with applicable systems and job-specific standards. Sun River Health is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center providing primary, preventive, behavioral, and related support services to communities in need. The organization describes a culture focused on wellness, inclusivity, recognition, respect, integrity, and excellence. The stated pay range is $20.00–$23.13 per hour. A $1,500 sign-on bonus is available to eligible external applicants, subject to terms and conditions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2–4 years of work-related experience.

Responsibilities
- Assist with daily reception activities and ensure processes needed for patient services are initiated.
- Communicate effectively with team members and patients about all aspects of service.
- Handle telephone and mail contact with patients.
- Schedule appointments, collect fees, and explain patient services and charges.
- Distribute materials to patients, including patient satisfaction cards, patient rights information, and other appropriate materials.
- Verify insurance and set fees based on the sliding scale fee.
