About The Position

Cameron Health is an independent, not-for-profit facility serving Angola and Steuben County. The Patient Registrar works in the Cameron Urgent Care float department on an as-needed, part-time basis. This role is often one of the first points of contact for patients and provides registration, reception, and clerical support in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

The registrar gathers and reviews patient information, enters it into the electronic registration system, verifies insurance coverage and required physician referrals or authorizations, and assists with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. The role also includes explaining financial options, processing payments, balancing the cash drawer, and preparing the daily deposit. Work must follow hospital rules and regulatory requirements, and patient confidentiality must be maintained.

Requirements

• Ability to multitask.
• Basic mathematics and payment-processing knowledge.
• Computer experience and fast, accurate typing skills.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Outstanding customer service skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional, including in emergency situations.
• Understanding of medical terminology and standard insurance.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with the registration process, answer questions, and ensure forms are complete and accurate.
• Collect patient information and enter it into the electronic registration system in an organized and accessible manner.
• Verify insurance coverage, physician referrals, and insurance authorizations.
• Carry out administrative procedures for patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Perform reception and clerical work.
• Explain financial options to patients and collect and process payments as needed.
• Balance the cash drawer and prepare the daily deposit.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital rules and regulatory requirements.
