About The Position

Responsible for creating an environment of service excellence through positive interactions. Patient Navigator is responsible for delivery patient care delivery and management. He or she performs lab draws and other diagnostic testing such as EKG, spirometry, etc. for the assigned offices and providers as needed. Identifies current provider and patient needs, prioritizes, and responds accordingly. Focuses on throughput and efficiency deploying clinical staff and themselves where needed. Ability to effectively evaluate and manage clinical caregivers. Maintains positive and effective relationships with employees, providers, hospital departments, and the public. Assists Medical Assistants as necessary. Directs patient flow between arrival, registration, treatment, and departure. Acts as liaison between patients, their families, visitors, and at times the referring physician office staff.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years previous primary care Medical Assistant experience required.
  • Must maintain current CPR and BCLS certifications.
  • Phlebotomy license or experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrate strong communications skills and be committed to customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work well in team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environment.
  • Must be comfortable with computers and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Phone triage - Answers phone calls and requests from patients, employees, other physician offices, and pharmacies in a timely manner.
  • Follows up on high-risk patients including hospital follow ups per provider instruction.
  • Oversees messages and refills requests for all assigned providers.
  • Engages and motivates providers to manage and respond in timely fashion per policy.
  • Manages telephone calls and communications physician orders to patients and pharmacy.
  • Responds to messages and refill requests per provider instruction and protocol.
  • Performs diagnostic testing such as EKG, spirometry, audiometry, in-house lab testing such as mono spot, pregnancy tests, strep tests, occupational medicine testing, and venipuncture.
  • Performs clerical functions as necessary such as answering telephones, medical record processing, operating computer, scheduling appointments, handling billing issues, and signing of Medicare lab forms.
  • Manages throughput of patient care serving as air traffic control for the assigned providers and offices.
  • Evaluates current needs and responds accordingly.
