About The Position

The Patient Liaison supports Breast Surgery and Oncology Surgical services, traveling between the Grayslake and Lake Forest clinics. This full-time role is responsible for overseeing patients’ service experience and ensuring effective use of practice resources. The liaison builds strong relationships with patients and staff, provides information, and advocates for patients as needed while following Northwestern Memorial’s mission, values, ethics, policies, and applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.

The position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a schedule of either 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Some remote work capabilities may be available after the probationary period.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 2 years of previous healthcare experience.
• Experience in a customer service role.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Previous experience with an electronic medical record system.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Manage schedules to make effective use of providers, rooms, and equipment.
• Maintain schedules, including opening and closing clinic templates, and coordinate care alternatives for patients affected by changes.
• Communicate with patients and clinical staff as needed to support compliance with prescribed treatment plans.
• Assist the Practice Manager with collecting and analyzing data related to physician productivity and resource utilization.
• Help resolve or prevent billing errors and denials, including obtaining pre-certifications or referrals as needed.
• Register patients and schedule or coordinate appointments.
• Provide patient education information and materials as needed.
• Maintain strong relationships with patients, internal providers and staff, external hospital departments, physician offices, and vendors.
• Respond to inquiries from patients, providers, staff, and others about practice operations.
• Follow up with patients to support compliance with testing, prescriptions, and plans of care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
