About The Position

The Patient Liaison supports the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial while following its Code of Ethics, Corporate Compliance Program, and applicable policies and standards. The role oversees patients’ service experience and helps ensure effective use of practice resources. It serves as a resource for patients and staff by building relationships, sharing necessary information, and advocating for patients as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 2 years of previous healthcare experience.
• Experience in a customer service role.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Previous experience with an electronic medical record system.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Manage schedules to make best use of providers, rooms, equipment, and other resources.
• Maintain schedules, including opening and closing clinic templates, and coordinate care alternatives for patients affected by schedule changes.
• Communicate with patients and clinical staff as needed to support patients’ compliance with prescribed treatment plans.
• Assist the Practice Manager with collecting and analyzing data related to physician productivity and resource utilization.
• Help resolve and prevent billing errors and denials, including obtaining pre-certifications or referrals as needed.
• Register patients and schedule or coordinate appointments.
• Provide patient education information and materials as needed.
• Maintain relationships with patients, internal providers and staff, external hospital departments, physician offices, and vendors.
• Answer incoming inquiries from patients, providers, staff, and others about practice operations.
• Follow up with patients to support compliance with testing, prescriptions, and their plans of care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
