About The Position

Deaconess is seeking a compassionate and dedicated PRN Patient Intake Specialist I to serve as one of the first points of contact for patients. The role provides a warm welcome and supports a smooth registration experience, while helping cultivate an environment of courtesy, respect, empathy, dignity, and optimism. The specialist represents Deaconess and helps foster a positive, patient-centered experience.

The position is at Deaconess IL Med Center. Shifts may be day, evening, or night, with varying Monday–Sunday schedules and rotating weekends and holidays. The role is PRN.

Requirements

• Completion of high school or GED is required.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of the health care revenue cycle is preferred.
• Understanding insurance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and compassion.
• Register patients accurately and efficiently.
• Collect payments in accordance with established procedures.
• Direct and escort patients to appropriate locations as needed.
• Ensure compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
• Represent Deaconess by fostering a positive, patient-centered experience.
