About The Position

The Patient Intake Specialist I ED is one of the first points of contact for patients and visitors and helps provide a warm welcome and smooth registration experience. As an ambassador of Deaconess, the specialist fosters a nurturing, positive, and patient-centered environment built on courtesy, respect, empathy, dignity, and optimism. The role is based at the Midtown and Gateway Campus locations and includes a mix of first- and second-shift work, with two third shifts within a six-week period, as well as rotating weekends.

Requirements

• Completion of high school or GED.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of the health care revenue cycle.
• Understanding of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and compassion.
• Register patients accurately and efficiently.
• Collect payments in accordance with established procedures.
• Direct and escort patients to appropriate locations as needed.
• Ensure compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations and hospital policies and procedures.
• Foster a positive, patient-centered experience as an ambassador of Deaconess.
