Patient Care Technician - Stepdown (PCT) - Gateway
About The Position
As a Patient Care Technician (PCT), you’ll work closely with nurses to provide hands-on care and support to patients. The role includes assisting with personal hygiene, mobility, repositioning and transfers; monitoring and recording vital signs; documenting important information in patient charts; and providing compassionate support, including to patients nearing the end of life. The work involves exposure to bodily fluids and dynamic, sensitive situations. The 19-bed Stepdown unit provides care for ICU-level neuroscience and medical patients. Its patient population includes patients undergoing cranial surgery and neuro-endovascular procedures, patients with neurological conditions such as stroke, and patients with medical conditions requiring intensive care. Deaconess Gateway Hospital is a certified Primary Stroke Center designated by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider certification within six months of hire.
- Successfully complete PCT classes as required by the care center or unit.
- Able to safely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED) is preferred.
Responsibilities
