Patient Care Technician - Cardiac Renal (PCT) - Gateway
About The Position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works on the Cardiac Renal Unit (CRU), providing hands-on patient care and support alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals. The role supports patients with varied medical needs and helps them feel comfortable, safe, and cared for throughout their stay. Paid training and on-the-job learning are provided, and no prior experience is required. The CRU is a 32-bed unit on the fifth floor of the Gateway Campus, with private patient rooms and a diverse population of medical-surgical, cardiac, and renal patients. The unit includes Gateway's dialysis suite and emphasizes education, mentoring, professional development, continuing education, certifications, and teamwork.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification within six months of hire.
- Compassionate, dependable, and collaborative approach to patient care.
- Eagerness to learn and commitment to providing excellent patient care.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily personal care needs, including bathing, oral hygiene, toileting, and linen changes.
- Support patient mobility, transfers, repositioning, and ambulation.
- Monitor and document vital signs and patient observations.
- Record important information in patient charts to support quality care.
- Provide compassionate care and emotional support to patients and families.
