About The Position

The Patient Care Technician works in the Emergency Department at Highland Park Hospital on a full-time evening schedule of 36 hours per week, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., with rotating weekends. The role requires sustained attention and manual dexterity, visual acuity to assess patients and read or record charts, and auditory acuity to communicate with patients and colleagues, including those wearing masks. The technician must be able to work under pressure to meet patient care needs and follow appropriate patient-movement procedures.

Requirements

Eligible to work in the United States.
Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider issued by the American Heart Association, or obtain certification within 90 days of hire if it is not current or not held.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including teamwork, prioritization, and the ability to receive and follow through on directions.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to meet the role’s visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity needs.
Ability to work under pressure and perform the physical activities required throughout the shift.

Nice To Haves

Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA) training course.
Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing.

Responsibilities

Support patient care needs in the Emergency Department.
Use appropriate patient-movement equipment for non-emergency lifting and transfers.
Assist with lifting up to 50 pounds during urgent events.
Wear an N95 mask or PAPR and other personal protective equipment when applicable.
Communicate with patients, healthcare team members, and coworkers.
