About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a vital member of the collaborative nursing team in the Emergency Department. The PCT supports Registered Nurses by providing hands-on, non-medicated care and helping maintain a safe, welcoming environment for patients. The role includes assisting with daily needs, monitoring patient conditions alongside RNs, and supporting care plans with attention, empathy, and teamwork to help preserve patients’ comfort and dignity.

Requirements

Obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

Assist with patient preparation, mobility, transfers, and comfort to support care and recovery.
Provide non-medicated care, including dressing changes, skin protection, and use of supportive devices.
Keep patient areas and common spaces clean, organized, and stocked to maintain safety and efficiency.
Manage supplies, equipment, and logs to support infection control and team readiness.
Communicate kindly with patients, families, and the care team to support safety and quality.
Support Registered Nurses in monitoring patient conditions and carrying out care plans.
