Patient Care Technician Observation
About The Position
Provides patient-related care tasks based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in the assigned unit. Assists, observes, and reports patient changes to a licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation relating to care delivered. Provides and collaborates on direct patient care services under the direct supervision of a licensed caregiver. Care may include personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, ambulation, interventions, and implementation of selected portions of the patient care plan as directed under the supervision of a nurse. Addresses and/or directs questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of Block 1 in Nursing, or qualification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Nursing Assistant (NA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), or six months of healthcare-setting experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Nice To Haves
- Six months of acute care experience.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT) license.
Responsibilities

- Observe and report changes in patient condition to a licensed caregiver.
- Maintain accurate medical record documentation relating to care delivered.
- Address and/or direct questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
