About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Patient Care Technicians play a central role in providing compassionate care to patients during vulnerable periods of their lives. This per-diem position is based in Mesa, Arizona, and offers 12-hour day or night shifts from 6:00 to 6:30. Compensation is $25.00 per hour, plus shift differentials.

The hospital is moving from St. Joseph's Hospital to the third floor of Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa. New team members receive an extensive orientation. The role may offer a path to potential full-time opportunities based on demonstrated skills and dedication. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) participation after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Hospital experience as a nursing assistant, nursing assistant certification, or experience in a related field such as medical assisting or active enrollment as an RN student.
• BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient services including bathing with basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding, and hair care.
• Participate in hourly rounds.
• Transport patients to and from treatment centers when necessary and assist transporters with moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Maintain the cleanliness of instruments and equipment, including bedpans, urinals, and wheelchairs.
• Keep patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
• Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
