About The Position

This is a split shift position, working 2 days and 1 night, for a Full-Time role with 3 days x 12-hour shifts. Tele 4 is a 10-bed telemetry unit specializing in general medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including conditions like pneumonia, ESRD, Stroke, CHF, and chest pain. It also handles post-operative patients from GU, Urology, Orthopedics, Bariatrics, and Heart Cath/PCI. The patient population often has multiple co-morbidities and complex care needs, with patients admitted or transferred from ICU, ED, and PACU. Tele 3 is a 22-bed telemetry unit with similar patient specializations and care complexities. The Monitor Tech/Patient Care Technician (PCT)/Unit Secretary, under the direction of an RN or licensed care team member, provides direct and indirect patient care. Unit secretaries are crucial for maintaining efficient unit operations through administrative support and effective communication. Responsibilities include direct patient care tasks such as assisting with personal hygiene, bowel and bladder functions, recording intake and output, collecting and transporting specimens, assisting with patient activity and repositioning, preparing patients and equipment for procedures, and escorting patients. They also maintain a clean and stocked work area, respond promptly to patient needs via signal lights or intercoms, and ensure positive interactions with patients and visitors.

Requirements

  • Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year of a Nursing program and validation of a clinical rotation consistent with level of education.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in personal hygiene activities such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair, and nail care.
  • Assist patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity.
  • Records patient intake and output (I & O).
  • Collects, labels, and transports specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Assist patients with activity, turning and repositioning as indicated by provider order and in collaboration with the nurse.
  • Communicates pertinent patient information/findings to patient’s nurse.
  • Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for specific procedures and provide manual assistance as needed.
  • Escort or transport patients to various hospital locations while maintaining patient safety.
  • Clean assigned area; stock and replenish supplies and equipment as directed.
  • Answers signal lights, bells, or intercom system immediately to determine patients’ needs and assures needs are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Accesses additional assistance as indicated to meet patient needs.
  • Ensures positive customer relations interactions.
  • Responds promptly to customer needs, both patient and visitors
  • Responds to requests for service and assistance in a positive manner.
