About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA/PCT) - SRNA Certification position is located in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at BHCOR-Cor ICU CCU/PCU Dept. I in Corbin, KY. The PCU is a 20-bed unit that monitors patients via central telemetry 24 hours a day. This unit serves patients aged 16 to geriatric who have moderate or potentially severe physiologic instability, requiring technical support but not necessarily artificial life support. The role requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills based on psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences in the application of the nursing process. The CNA/PCT will utilize high-level assessment skills to design and ensure multidisciplinary patient care to meet holistic needs, incorporating established practice guidelines and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification OR successful completion of the first year of a nursing program with validation of a clinical rotation consistent with level of education.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • No experience; patient care experience preferred.
  • Candidates without Nurse Aide Certification must obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Additional job-specific training and certifications within established timeframes.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care and clinical support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Monitors and documents vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other patient information accurately.
  • Assists patients with daily living activities including hygiene, mobility, feeding, repositioning, and comfort needs while promoting dignity and safety.
  • Supports admissions, transfers, discharges, and department-specific clinical procedures as directed.
  • Observes and reports changes in patient condition or concerns to the nursing team promptly.
  • Collects specimens and assists with routine patient care procedures.
  • Delivers compassionate, patient-centered service to patients, families, and visitors.
  • Maintains compliance with hospital safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
