About The Position
This position is for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on a Telemetry unit, specifically Tele 4 (10-bed) and Tele 3 (22-bed). These units specialize in general medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including conditions like pneumonia, ESRD, Stroke, CHF, and chest pain. They also care for post-operative patients from GU, Urology, Orthopedics, Bariatrics, and Heart Cath/PCI procedures. The patient population often has multiple co-morbidities and complex care needs, with patients admitted or transferred from ICU, ED, and PACU. The CNA provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or other licensed care team member, focusing on empathy, compassion, communication, and teamwork. Responsibilities include assisting patients with personal hygiene, bowel and bladder functions, recording intake and output, collecting specimens, managing linens, maintaining a clean patient environment, assisting with patient activity and repositioning, and communicating pertinent patient information to the nurse. The role also involves setting priorities for the care of multiple patients.
Requirements
- Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year of a Nursing program and validation of a clinical rotation consistent with level of education.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in personal hygiene activities such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair, and nail care.
- Assist patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity.
- Records patient intake and output (I & O).
- Collects, labels, and transports specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Changes and transport soiled and contaminated linens according to procedure.
- Maintains clean and tidy patient room/environment.
- Assist patients with activity, turning and repositioning as indicated by provider order and in collaboration with the nurse.
- Communicates pertinent patient information/findings to patient’s nurse.
- Sets priorities for the care of multiple patients.
