About The Position
Join the team as a night-shift, PRN Medical Surgical Patient Care Technician in Harker Heights, Texas. The Patient Care Tech works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff, providing assistance with patients’ daily activities and supporting patient care through observation, measurement, specimen collection, transport, and other unit duties. Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services including cardiology, emergency services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, total joint replacement, gastroenterology, and diagnostic services. Requirements
- Obtain BLS certification within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and before providing direct patient care.
- Be competent to perform in at least two general areas of practice, cross-trained and cross-competent to cover more than one hospital service, role, or function.
Nice To Haves
- High school graduate or GED.
- Two years of experience in acute or long-term care.
- Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
- Currently enrolled in nursing school.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and eating.
- Observe patients’ progress and prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurses or other medical staff.
- Obtain and record patients’ vital signs.
- Collect specimens for laboratory tests.
- Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
- Measure and record patients’ intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines.
- Assist patients with range-of-motion activities.
- Draw blood.
