Patient Care Tech - MedSurg, Nights
About The Position
The Patient Care Tech provides care to patients from birth through the lifecycle under the supervision of licensed clinical staff. The role requires demonstrating competency with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to the clinical setting and hospital policy. Patient ratios are determined by factors including patient volume and acuity; extenuating circumstances may result in lower or higher ratios. The position is on Med A, a fast-paced, 30-bed medical-surgical unit at Piedmont Athens. The unit provides direct care to adult and geriatric patients with varied illnesses and comorbidities, including overflow patients from Surgery, Pulmonary, Neuroscience, Oncology, and Orthopedics. Support staff include an IV team, home medication nurse, and lift team.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required upon hire.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- One year of patient care experience preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
- Certification from a Patient Care Technician program preferred.
