About The Position

The Patient Care Tech works on a 24-bed Medical-Surgical unit at Piedmont Walton Hospital, caring for adult patients with a range of needs, including orthopedic conditions, general and bariatric surgeries, cardiac and telemetry monitoring, and complex medical conditions. The unit has typical RN-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 and PCT-to-patient ratios of 1:6–9. Team members may gain experience assisting with IV starts, bedside procedures, wound care, NGTs and chest tubes, blood transfusions, and care for post-operative, central-line, and colostomy patients. Nurses and PCTs may float to assist with needs across the hospital.

Under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, the Patient Care Tech provides care to patients from birth through the lifecycle and demonstrates competency with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to the clinical setting and hospital policy.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required upon hire.
• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• One year of patient care experience is preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is preferred.
• Certification from a Patient Care Technician program is preferred.

Responsibilities
