Patient Care Tech - MedSurg
About The Position
The Patient Care Tech works on Piedmont Walton Hospital’s 24-bed Medical-Surgical unit, a fast-paced environment caring for adult patients with orthopedic needs, general and bariatric surgeries, cardiac/telemetry monitoring, and complex medical conditions. The role provides care to patients from birth through the lifecycle under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, demonstrating competency with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to the clinical setting and hospital policy. The unit typically has PCT-to-patient ratios of 1:6–9. Team members may float to assist with needs across the hospital. The unit offers opportunities for clinical experience and collaboration, including assisting with bedside procedures, wound care, NGTs, chest tubes, blood transfusions, and care for post-operative, central-line, and colostomy patients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification upon hire.
Nice To Haves
- One year of patient care experience.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Certification from a Patient Care Technician program.
