The Patient Care Tech works under the supervision of licensed clinical staff to provide patient care from birth through the lifecycle. The role requires demonstrating competency with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to the clinical setting and hospital policy. Patient ratios depend on factors such as patient volume and acuity; extenuating circumstances may result in lower or higher ratios. The position is with Med A, a fast-paced, 30-bed medical-surgical unit at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. The unit provides evidence-based care to adult and geriatric patients with a variety of illnesses and comorbidities, including overflow patients from surgery, pulmonary, neuroscience, oncology, and orthopedics. The care team coordinates health care plans with the broader medical team and receives support from an IV team, home medication nurse, and lift team. The unit offers flexible schedules with self-scheduling, a unit-based council, a dedicated unit educator, strong relationships with medical providers, and a welcoming team environment.
