About The Position

The Patient Care Tech provides direct patient care to adult and geriatric populations under the guidance and direction of a Registered Nurse. The role includes supporting patient hygiene, mobility, vital signs, and blood glucose monitoring, along with housekeeping and cleaning duties that help maintain a safe, clean environment. The position is full-time, scheduled for 72 hours on night shifts, and is located in Maryville, Illinois.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

• Current Nurse Assistant certification by the State of Illinois, documentation of Nurse Assistant certification within the past five years, and/or documentation of on-the-job training in a patient care setting equivalent to nurse assistant training.
• Experience in long-term care, rehabilitation, and/or medical-surgical care.

Responsibilities

• Admit, discharge, and transfer patients, completing the appropriate forms.
• Provide for patient hygiene and food and fluid needs.
• Assist patients with mobility.
• Obtain and record vital signs.
• Maintain a safe environment of care.
• Provide appropriate pressure ulcer prevention.
• Perform finger-stick blood glucose monitoring under the direction of the RN.
• Complete documentation accurately and promptly in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Provide safe, skillful, accurate, and efficient age-appropriate and population-specific care, primarily to adult and geriatric patients.
• Support patients’ rights and responsibilities, including respect for cultural, ethical, and religious diversity.
• Adhere to standard precautions and infection control standards.
• Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties to maintain a safe, clean environment.
